  1. Trace the sensor's wiring — it's screwed into the exhaust manifold or front pipe, with a pigtail up to a connector — and look for melted, chafed or oil-soaked sections
  2. Unplug the connector, check for corrosion or oil wicking up the loom, reseat it
  3. Check the relevant fuse for the O2 heater circuit if your fuse box lists one
  4. Watch the sensor's voltage live once warm — a healthy front sensor swings rhythmically; a flatlined one is dead
  5. If wiring's sound, replace the sensor — go OEM or a reputable brand, cheap clones are a false economy

Which dials to watch for P0130

The code itself is a snapshot. The fault sets after the car's watched the numbers over a whole drive cycle. Here's what's worth keeping an eye on:

O2 B1S1 voltage
A healthy front sensor swings busily between roughly 0.1 and 0.9V once the engine's warm. If yours sits flat or reads implausibly, you're looking at the fault directly.
Short fuel trim
When the ECU gives up on the sensor it locks the trims or runs on guesswork. Frozen or odd trim behaviour confirms the car's not in proper closed-loop fuelling.

Can I still drive it?

Yes — the car runs on a default fuel map without the sensor, so it's driveable and safe. The cost is worse fuel economy and a richer mixture, which over time is unkind to the catalytic converter. Fine for days, not something to ignore for months.
